Caregiver Pilot Program (Nanny)

The Caregiver Pilot Program, also known as the Nanny Pilot Program, is designed to help Canadian families hire foreign caregivers to provide in-home care for children, seniors, or individuals with medical needs. This program aims to make it easier for Canadian families to find the care they need while also providing opportunities for foreign caregivers to gain valuable work experience and eventually apply for permanent residence in Canada.

The Caregiver Pilot Program has two streams:

  • The Home Child Care Provider Pilot
  • The Home Support Worker Pilot

To be eligible for the Caregiver Pilot Program, you’ll typically need:

  • A job offer from a Canadian employer
  • To meet the language proficiency requirements in English or French
  • To have completed a Canadian secondary school education or an equivalent foreign credential
  • To have at least 24 months of full-time work experience as a caregiver or in a related field, such as health care or education
  • To meet other specific requirements depending on the stream you’re applying for

Once you have a job offer and meet the eligibility criteria, you can apply for a Work Permit under the Caregiver Pilot Program. The application process typically involves providing documentation to support your application, such as:

  • Your job offer letter
  • Proof of your language proficiency
  • Educational credentials and work experience
  • Your passport and other travel documents

Under the Caregiver Pilot Program, you can bring your family with you to Canada, and they can also apply for work or study permits.
